Soul of the Junction SCIO

Soul of the Junction SCIO is committed to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for children, young people and vulnerable adults. Safeguarding is central to everything we do.

Our safeguarding commitment

We recognise our responsibility to protect the wellbeing of all children and young people who engage with our activities, events and spaces.

We are committed to:

  • Providing a safe and supportive environment

  • Treating all children with respect, dignity and care

  • Acting promptly on any safeguarding concerns

  • Working in line with Scottish safeguarding legislation and guidance

All activities involving children are delivered with appropriate supervision and clear boundaries.

Safeguarding procedures

Soul of the Junction SCIO:

  • Follows a written Safeguarding Policy

  • Ensures relevant staff and volunteers are aware of safeguarding responsibilities

  • Uses PVG checks where required for roles involving regular or direct contact with children

  • Has clear procedures for reporting and responding to concerns

Any safeguarding concern is taken seriously and acted upon appropriately.

Children’s data & privacy

We take special care when handling personal data relating to children.

We:

  • Collect only essential information about children

  • Seek parental or guardian consent where required

  • Store children’s data securely and confidentially

  • Do not share children’s data with third parties unless legally required or clearly agreed

Children’s data is handled in accordance with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy.

Photography & media

Photographs or videos of children may only be taken or used:

  • With clear consent from a parent or guardian

  • For agreed purposes such as promotion or reporting

  • In a respectful and non-intrusive manner

We never identify children by full name unless explicit permission has been given.

Parental responsibility

Parents or guardians remain responsible for their children unless stated otherwise for specific activities. Details of supervision and responsibilities are shared clearly for each event or programme.
