Soul of the Junction SCIO was born from a simple but powerful idea: that rural communities thrive when people have welcoming spaces to gather, create, learn and support one another.
Founded in September 2024, our charity was set up to breathe new life into community spaces in and around Carstairs Junction, with a particular focus on inclusion, wellbeing, creativity and climate resilience. What started as conversations around kitchen tables quickly grew into action — meetings, plans, volunteers, partnerships and, most importantly, belief from local people that change was possible.

Taking on the stewardship of the village hall marked a turning point. It became more than a building; it became a shared responsibility and a shared dream. Since then, Soul of the Junction has been working steadily to modernise the space, improve accessibility and create programmes that reflect what our community actually needs — not just what looks good on paper.
This journey hasn’t been without challenges, but every step has reinforced why community-led action matters. When people feel heard and involved, remarkable things begin to happen.

Founded in September 2024, Soul of the Junction SCIO grew from a shared belief that rural communities thrive when people come together with purpose, care and creativity.
